Flemish School
A twilight panorama frames a scene from the Christian legend. In the centre, the Virgin Mary has the Christ Child on her knee while he is placing a ring on Saint Catherine`s finger. Traditionally known as the Mystic Marriage of Saint Catherine, this was a way of visualising her spiritual union with Christ. She is kneeling to the left in an elegant dress. Behind, Saint John the Baptist and Saint Joseph observe the scene.
